About Us

The San Nicolas Water District (SANIWAD) was organized and established on October 5, 1985, pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 198, as amended, otherwise known as the Provincial Water Utilities Act of 1973. To formally affirm its authority to operate, the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) issued Conditional Certificate of Conformance (CCC) No. 255 on November 7, 1985, authorizing SANIWAD to provide, improve, and develop water services for the people of San Nicolas.

SANIWAD was formed with the support of LWUA through financial assistance, technical expertise, and management advisory services. Since its establishment, the District has remained committed to its prime mandate: to serve the people of San Nicolas by providing safe, potable, sufficient, and affordable water.

The San Nicolas Water District is a Government-Owned and Controlled Corporation (GOCC) governed by a five (5)-member Board of Directors that serves as the policy-making body of the District. The Board represents key sectors of society, namely the professional, educational, civic, business, and women sectors, ensuring balanced and inclusive governance. Members of the Board are appointed by the Municipal Mayor, the designated appointing authority.

Guided by its vision, mission, and core values, SANIWAD continuously works to protect public health by maintaining water quality standards, safeguarding water sources, and ensuring efficient and reliable water distribution.
